Customer Reviews about Burlington Police Department:
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆I wish I could give BPD ZERO stars. They allow drug addicted criminals to break into your home by breaking into the windows, then electroshock your dog with a stun gun because he is defending his own home, then they steal your dog by calling and lying to animal control and telling them "the dog was outside" and "trying to attack everybody". Well BPD, that is what a dog is there for. To serve and protect it's family and home just like the police is supposed to "serve and protect". I see clearly who BPD serves and protects and it is lying, sadistic, criminals. Commonsense, if a person cannot get past the dog at the door, that should tell a knowledgeable and trained officer that the person has no business there. Yet they allow criminals to steal your belongings and enter your house without a warrant. Then they arrest you without even giving you your Miranda rights. They allow their officers to punch you in the face so hard that it is busts and don't investigate that. But as soon as your boyfriend makes a review about how one of their officers indecently tried to hurt you, they want to investigate that, but only that. If you cannot properly investigate a simple breaking and entering, which you all have refused to do, what makes me feel comfortable that you do anything properly? I used to have respect and compassion for police officers. After what happened to me and my family; not anymore. Several of my windows clearly have broken screens, one of my windows are actually broken, my side door is broken, and a lot of my things have been stolen right in front of the police officers that you employ. But does anyone investigate that? You guys refuse to do so, because you know you are dead wrong. I clearly told the officers that the intruder does not belong in my house, does not live there, and has no proof or evidence of such. The dog "attacking" her goes to prove that.( I have had to remove him from my home entirely and let him stay with family, as I am uncomfortable leaving him home alone until I move from this godforsaken area now that I know you guys hurt dogs in their own home/yard for defending their own residence). I have several witnesses that can vouch for that as well, including the landlord who visits unexpectedly quite frequently. Then after I get "arrested", you guys magically make my other pets disappear, when they were clearly at home in their crates at the time of incident. What was the reason for going back into my house and stealing my other 2 dogs? They weren't "attacking" anybody, they were not loose or bothering anything, and you guys knew my boyfriend lives there as well as my kids so there's no excuse in saying nobody was going to take care of them while I was in jail. Then you guys charge people for a "resisting an officer" when the officer never once said that I am under arrest or told me my rights. So how am I resisting an officer, when he did not tell me what he was doing. I thought that was protocol? Maybe I am wrong. Or maybe you guys need to re-train your crappy officers. I really just could go on and on about this whole case and how BPD violates the 4th Amendment and is probably Unconstitutional in every way, but at least the public should know this much, and how you carry yourselves as a department in whole. The officer was so ludicrous, that the Jailer who booked me in had to tell the crooked officer to shut up. Now that's really sad. I've seen a lot of messed up things in life, but thus far this situation has really topped it all. Congratulations BPD. You guys really deserve an award for most shady and crooked police department in North Carolina, maybe even the world. May you all have a wonderful New Year. Hopefully you all get it together for 2016.By Latanya Whetsell, February 23, 2017
